Mitochondrial Therapy - Stress Control

Mitochondria - our energy makers

What is Mitochondrial Therapy?

Mitochondrial Therapy is a unique health system that involves taking specially formulated food supplements designed to give additional support to the mitochondria of our cells helping to increase energy production, adaptability to stress and overall health and wellbeing.

Mitochondria are tiny energy-making factories that live inside our cells. They produce the power our bodies need to adapt to stress, combat disease, repair and regenerate.

Supporting mitochondrial health means that the regulatory systems of the body - namely the hormonal, immune and cardiovascular systems, and the autonomic nervous system - can operate more efficiently enhancing the body's ability to cope with stress. Learn more about mitochondria here.

What is the Mitochondrial Therapy Programme?

Before we can recommend a programme of Mitochondrial Therapy, we first need to assess your current health status. We do this by asking you to complete a short health questionnaire. Then you will need to take a Heart Rate Variabilty (HRV) Stress Test

Our highly advanced HRV analysis machine will monitor your heart rate for a total of five minutes. It is non-invasive and carried out while you sit comfortably in a chair and relax. See a HRV test in action here.

The results of your test will show how well your autonomic system is performing and how well you are adapting to stress. We use the result to  recommend a course of Mitochondrial Therapy to suit your own individual needs.

The three natural supplement formulas used in Mitochondrial Therapy are:

  • Carnosine Complex
  • Co-Enzyme Q10 Complex
  • Flavonoids Complex

During the programme, we advise that you have follow-up HRV Stress Tests every 6-8 weeks in order to monitor your progress and allow us to adjust the supplement dosages accordingly.

The length of the programme varies from person to person as everyone is individual. But we will guide and support you every step of the way as we want you to get the most out of your therapy and reach your optimum level of health.

Those who have taken part in the programme report an array of health benefits including:

  • better stress control
  • increased energy
  • enhanced sports performance
  • more balanced hormones
  • more regulated weight
  • improved immune system
  • less allergies and intolerances
  • improved cognitive function
  • feeling more youthful
  • and many more

The aim of Mitochondrial Therapy is to support the health of the body’s regulatory systems - it does not in any way diagnose, treat, heal or cure any medical conditions.

SPACE MEDICINE:

Mitochondrial Therapy is also known as 'space medicine.' This is because it was developed by a group of scientists working on the Mars 500 space project at the Institute of Bio-Medical Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences. They studied the effects of stress from cosmic radiation on the health of Russian cosmonauts. Their research with the amino acid carnosine led them to develop formulas that supported cells against stress damage caused by cosmic radiation and that would, in turn, help the body adapt to stress of all kinds. Dr Michael Kucera, a medical doctor and specialist in anti-ageing medicine, was part of this research team and together with Sheri Dixon, an expert in the field of health, introduced HRV testing and Mitochondrial Therapy to the UK in 2010 allowing everyone access to their health enhancing benefits.

What are Mitochondria?

Watch the video to learn more about how essential mitochondria are for our health and wellbeing. Mitochondria are tiny structures that live inside every cell of the body. They are our 'energy factories' creating the cellular power we need to adapt and survive. They are very easily damaged by factors such as stress and pollution; so it is really important that we keep our mitochondria strong and healthy if we want to enjoy an optimum level of health. A HRV test takes only 5 minutes while you sit and relax in a chair. The results will reveal just how healthy you are on the inside by showing how your autonomic nervous system is performing and how well your body is adapting to stress. (top of page)
